“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.
And then there are books which you can’t tell people about, books so special and rare and yours that advertising your affection feels like a betrayal.”
- John Green, The Fault in Our Stars -
A few years ago when I read “The Fault in Our Stars” I was wrecked. Pretty much like any other woman (teen or otherwise) who read it. Green has a way about his writing that is intimately relatable and magically mesmerizing all at once. And this quote is too good not to share in its entirety.
This is for all the book nerds who love their series, lore, characters, dialogue. For those romance lovers who need the HEA to escape the heaviness of life. Literature elites whose prose and vocabulary are only ever growing, never diminishing. And for us run-of-the-mill book lovers who need a story to add the spark back into life. May we share our love with that evangelical zeal, and cherish the stories that were only meant for us in a serendipitous moment of time.
Here’s to reading.
